Important Reminders for Families

We are so happy to welcome your child to the Afterschool Learning Academy at Killip Elementary School! We are excited to provide our students with opportunities to learn, explore, create, and build new skills and relationships after school.
We would also like to share a few important reminders with families.

Pathways May Change Throughout the Year

We have received some questions and feedback from families about Pathways not being offered for the entire school year. Please know that our Pathways are not all year-long clubs. Some Pathways may have specific start and end dates, while others may be offered for a longer period of time.
Our afterschool program is very dependent on teachers, staff, community partners, and volunteers who generously give their time and talents to our students. Some Pathways are also dependent on the weather or the time of year. For example, outdoor activities may need to end or change when weather conditions make them difficult or unsafe.
We are incredibly grateful for the people who make these opportunities possible. At Killip, we feel very fortunate to be able to offer this afterschool experience to our students and families. As new opportunities become available, we hope to continue adding different Pathways throughout the year.

FACTS Is Free Only on Pathway Days

Students may use FACTS at no cost only on the days they are signed up for a Pathway. Please make sure your child attends FACTS only on their scheduled Pathway days.

Attendance Is Important!

Your child's regular attendance is an important part of their success. Each Pathway is designed to build skills, relationships, and learning experiences over time. We ask that students attend consistently whenever possible.

Pathway Commitment

Students are committed to the Pathway they selected through the end of the first semester. This helps us maintain consistent groups and allows students to fully participate in and benefit from their Pathway experience.
If a Pathway ends before the end of the semester, we will communicate that information with families and provide information about other opportunities that may be available.

Joining Other Clubs

Students may not join additional clubs or activities during their scheduled Pathway time unless the change has been approved by the Afterschool Learning Academy team. Please contact us if you have questions or would like to request a change.

We are excited about the year ahead and look forward to providing our students with meaningful opportunities to learn, explore, create, and grow.

Readers Studio: Tuesday/Thursday (for 2-3 graders, with Mrs. Shultz)
Garden Pathway:  Monday/Wednesday (for K-5, with Mrs. Penca and NAU Garden Interns)
