P.B.I.S - Positive Behavior Interventions and Support

Here at Killip, we focus on Positive Behavior Reinforcment.  We have created a framework of supports for all students to be more successful.  Some components of our PBIS Framework are listed below.

SMART Cards - Recognition of SMART behavior

Kindness Links - Acknowledge random acts of kindness

Kindness Week - Promote kindness schoolwide

Perfectly Punctual Program - Promote better attendance

Social Emotional Lessons - Schoolwide to promote better understanding of social interactions

Behavior Intervention - To help identify students displaying at risk behaviors

Here are a couple of websites that give more information regarding PBIS in schools.

S.M.A.R.T. Program

The S.M.A.R.T. program is Killip's whole school positive behavior recognition program.

S.M.A.R.T. stands for:
Successful, Mindful Achievers, who are Respectful and Trustworthy

The Killip S.M.A.R.T. Pledge: As a Killip Cougar, I am a Successful, Mindful Achiever, who is Respectful and Trustworthy.

The Purpose of the SMART program is to provide positive reinforcement of behaviors.

The S.M.A.R.T. Matrix is the whole school behavioral expectations for different areas of the school. Signs are posted all around the school to remind the students of the behavioral expectations for all students.

Video links are provided for each of the eight areas on the matrix.  Fifth grade student leaders worked together to create the S.M.A.R.T. movies.

SMART Motto:

"As a Killip Cougar, I am a Successful, Mindful Achiever who is Respectful and Trustworthy."

  • FUSD works in partnership with local agencies to provide support for students to access mental health services. In 2020, the Arizona legislature passed "Jake's Law" which created a fund that provides uninsured and underinsured children access to behavioral health services when they are referred through an educational institution-otherwise known as "school-based referrals."

Our local agencies to provide services under this Mental Health Block Grant are The Guidance Center and Southwest Behavioral & Health Services. You can contact The Guidance Center by calling (928) 527-1899 or access information at TGCAZ. You can contact Southwest Behavioral & Health Services by calling (928) 779-4550 or access information at SBH Services.

Information about the Community Mental Health Block Grant is located AZAHCCCS.
